MY BELIEFS

Recognizing the importance of involving end-users in the design process, I strive for greater inclusivity and collaboration in the architectural practice. The communities architects work with need to be emphasized, as they are experts in their own needs.

I seek to challenge the traditional “architect-client” power dynamics and seek a more democratic approach. With major introspection about my own biases, I want to work in partnership, and not only promote my own design taste. I dream of spaces that marginalized communities can culturally relate to and can create a sense of home for themselves.

PROJECT ADVISOR

Special thanks to Alan who encouraged me to develop my project in ways that reflected my personal values. He always went along with my interests while also pushing me into unknown territory.

With a training in law and in the field of visual arts, he integrated the McGill School of Architecture in 2023, bringing a refreshing perspective to the otherwise eurocentric curriculum. He is motivated to pull students (and himself) outside of their usual thinking patterns, and successfully pushes the boundaries of the architecture field.

He taught me that architecture is way more than buildings and materials: it most importantly includes a complex network of individuals who are vulnerable to their changing environement. If we do not take them into consideration in the design process, valuable cultures could be lost.
